Way to go Clark!

Well, it finally happened. All the climbing over props, sets, our house, our roof, and Lord only knows what else that have threatened to impale Dave or cause some other sort of bodily injury over the years, finally caught up with him while perched on a little 5 foot ladder! He was caulking a new storage barn and was on the top step ( of course) leaning to get a spot ( of course) and the ladder tipped and he dropped straight down in a standing position and broke his leg ( the lower part of the leg bone that hooks to the ankle bone just to give you a visual) in THREE PLACES!! Yep, when he finally bites the dust he does it up big time! It's been a waiting game to see if he would have to have surgery on it but finally on Friday Dr. Smith said it was lined up perfect and starting to heal without pins so YEA! for Dave! He's in this nifty inflatable boot that's so much better than a cast cause eventually he will be able to take it off to shower etc. It has a big button on the front that you "pump up" ( sounds real sporty huh?) to make it feel like a cast and a cool little cart called a knee walker that lets him zoom around patients in the office and never put his foot down! For those of you that know Dave, being somewhat imobile is just, well, excruciating for him and no picnic for the rest of us! He HAS to be busy------all the time-----so sitting and watching TV, or heaven forbid reading a book is like putting a three year old in time out for 2 hours! We finally gave up and just let him do whatever he wanted, so he has crawled around on the ground outside-----alot--- winterizing the ponds, and "helping" me put Christmas lights in the bushes! Oh yeah, and that's another thing------the lights----or should I say-- lack of lights this year! The ole Boyd house will only be having "bush lights" cause that's all Karen is doin'! Not covering our house in lights and our yard in blow-ups is just TORTURE for him! He didn't get his nickname "Clark" for nothin! The good thing is that he'll only be in his boot for 6 more weeks and it's probably going to be snowy and cold so he wouldn't be able to be outside anyway. I'm tryin' to get him interested in wrapping presents, or writing Christmas cards, emptying the dishwasher or folding laundry, geez, I can think of TONS of stuff ! Maybe after I drag him away from staring out the window at the neighbor guys doing their weekend chores I'll suggest some of that stuff!
